Adoption: A Family Choice

Summertime Fun-2007

Here are some pictures of the fun things we have done so far this summer:

Obviously, this was one of our trips to the berry patch. We hadn't been to this place before, but it was great!! There were only one or two other families picking those delicious, large berries, so we were able to get a LOT. Carl has never been berrypicking before, so he was especially excited about getting those big, juicy ones. Janice...well...she learned why one does not pick those hard, small ones. Most places here allow people to eat as they pick, so she found those little ones just a bit too sour, LOL. Afterwards, the owner let the kids go and visit her dog, cat and geese. At home, most of the kids helped me to get them ready for freezing, but we kept some for ice cream later in the day. Okay, the kids are: back: Roger, 11, Mark, 14, Mary (my darling grand-daughter), 8, and Rita, 12...In the front row is: Janice, just turned 19, M. 2, Kathy, 5, C. 8, and Sandy who was 9 at the time, and is now 10 years old. Oh my, they grow too fast...

Janice sang at a Children's Celebration. She choose a song that one of choir director's wrote. It is a beautiful song about imagining a world of peace for children, where people ask not what to take but what to give. She then was chosen to sing at another talent show the following week. She will also be trying out for the talent show at our local county fair.

I took this picture, looking straight up into the sky. There was such a cool, complete circle around the sun.

We have a huge, 17 foot square foot wading pool (about 2 1/2 feet deep), but a huge cottonwood tree had roots about a foot in diameter. We didn't realize how big the roots were, and it slowly made cracks in the wading pool. The original concrete patio, where we built the pool, didn't have rebar, so the cracks couldn't be repaired (I know for sure...I tried so many different products, and the cracks kept showing up). When we get some extra money, we will put in rebar, pour in more concrete, and refinish the pool inside walls. So, for now, the kids have three small plastic pool to use. The weather, for a few days, was in the 90's, so we really needed them to cool off.

Rita, 12 is in the back, and in the middle row is: Sandy, now 10, M. 2 years old, Roger, 11, and C. 8. Right there in the front is Kathy, who is 5 years (and super excited to be going into kindergarten this fall).

Moriah, 13, just loved this dalmation owned by a fire department...and so did Kathy, 5. This was at a Children's Celebration, where there was a small entry fee, and all activities were free. You had to pay for food, but everything else was at no cost. The kids loved it.

Roger, 11, and C. 8, are super close...but they can have "disagreements" also, LOL. Pretty typical brothers, and boy can they come up with the most creative things to play in our yard!!

Martha loves going to the ocean. It was pretty windy this day, but the air was warm enough for the kids to play in the water. It sure wasn't warm enough for me though!!

Moriah, 13, wasn't too sure she wanted to touch this large snake, but she bravely reached out, and ended up with a smile. There were several other animals for the kids to touch, birds and reptiles mainly.

Sandy and Rita are also super close, like Roger and C. they do have their moments, though. Sandy is a pack rat, and has a hard time keeping her room neat. Rita, used to be a pack rat, but now as she is entering those teen years, she likes her room neat and clean. It is usually pretty well kept up. It has helped their relationship, now that they each have a room of their own.
