Adoption: A Family Choice cartoon kids of different races, all in a row
Bertha Marian Holt
"Grandma Holt"
February 5, 1904-July 31, 2000

From the Holt International Children's Services site: Bertha Holt, beloved "Grandma" to thousands of internationally adopted children around the world, suffered a stroke July 24 after completing her daily walk, a 1.5 mile trek. She died July 31, 2000 at her home in Creswell, OR. She was 96 years old.

The picture above was taken of Grandma, our daughter Martha, and a friend, while on a trip to Korea in 1995. We are so thankful for being invited by Holt Korea to visit...all expenses paid...as a representative of families who have adopted children with handicaps.

Left: Our daughter, Martha, Grandma, and Martha's dad at a Korean restaurant. You can't believe how delicious the food was, and the great variety that was prepared for us. Martha was able to use chop sticks, even with her Cerebral Palsy.

Right: Grandma Holt was being awarded one of the highest awards from Korea, at a wonderful banquet. Martha and Grandma look so beautiful in the colorful Korean outfits!
